Virtual Health Center of IA – PPNCS
These four centers closed in July: Ames, Cedar Rapids, Sioux City, Urbandale. The one in Cedar Rapids has already been listed as temporarily closed for some time. PP’s centers in Council Bluffs and Des Moines – Rosenfeld closed recently.

We list Community Health Centers, Rural Health Clinics, and other possible alternatives. These were found through web research, with occasional additions from local activists. Unless noted, they still need to be vetted by local activists as to quality and suitability. Here are action suggestions if they’re suitable or if they need improvement.

Caution: unlike CHCs and Rural Health Clinics, which by definition don’t do abortions, teaching hospitals associated with medical schools may be abortion providers, so wouldn’t be good PP alternatives. But since most don’t do abortions, we add listings because they often offer excellent services to low-income people. Local activists researching PP alternatives can find out if they’re suitable.
